چکیده
Recent findings on the Reynolds-number-dependent behaviour of near-wall turbulence in terms ‘foot-printing’ outer large-scale structures call for a new modelling development. A two-scale framework was proposed to couple local fine-mesh solution with global coarse-mesh by He ( Intl J. Numer. Meth. Fluids , vol. 86, 2018, pp. 655–677). The methodology implemented and demonstrated Chen & Fluid Mech 933, 2022, p. A47) canonical turbulent channel flow, where mesh-count scaling Reynolds number is potentially reduced from $O(R{e^2})$ conventional wall-resolved large-eddy simulation (WRLES) $O(R{e^1})$ . present work extends method boundary layers. two-dimensional roughness element used trip layer. It observed that disturbances originating at have much shorter lifetime weaker foot-printing signatures flow compared those long streaky coherent well-developed wall-bounded flows. Modal analyses show impact trip-induced large scales can be adequately captured locally embedded block. For tripped layer, Chebyshev block-spectral mapping adopted propagate source blocks domain, driving target upscaled equations. computed mean statistics energy spectra are good agreement corresponding experimental data, WRLES direct numerical (DNS) results. overall mesh count– $Re$ estimated reduce $O(R{e^{1.8}})$ full LES $O(R{e^{0.9}})$ solution.

A Novel Similarity Solution of Turbulent Boundary Layer Flow over a Flat Plate
In this paper, the similarity solution of turbulent boundary layer flow on the flat plate with zero pressure gradients is presented. By employing similarity variables the governing partial differential equations are transformed to ordinary ones with inconsistent coefficients and solved numerically with the use of Runge–Kutta and shooting methods in conjunction with trial and error procedure. Fo...

This article summarizes our present understanding of the physical behavior of two-dimensional turbulent separated flows, which occur due to adverse pressure gradients around streamlined and bluff bodies. The physical behavior of turbulence is flow dependent, so detailed experimental infor mation is needed for understanding such flows and modeling their physics for calculation methods. An earli...
متن کاملTurbulent boundary layer equations
We study a boundary layer problem for the Navier-Stokes-alpha model obtaining a generalization of the Prandtl equations conjectured to represent the averaged flow in a turbulent boundary layer. We solve the equations for the semi-infinite plate, both theoretically and numerically. The latter solutions agree with some experimental data in the turbulent boundary layer.
متن کاملSolution of Laminar Boundary Layer and Turbulent Free Jet With Neural Networks
A novel neuro-based method is introduced to solve the laminar boundary layer and the turbulent free jet equations. The proposed method is based on cellular neural networks, CNNs, which are recently applied widely to solve partial differential equations. The effectiveness of the method is illustrated through some examples.
